Cluelessly Fashionable

tumblrbot asked: ROBOTS OR DINOSAURS?

Robots. Dinosaurs are awesome but they’d surely eat everyone up D:

chemotherapy is a no no.

This is sick. I’m going to look into the details on chemo. I’ve heard for a while that it’s not good for us….and this seems like a pretty firm affirmation.

Simple Fashion

I love wearing a cute graphic tee (I love Threadless Tees more than anything), a pair of snazzy dark blue or black jeans with a pretty button or perhaps a colorful belt, cute and simple bright colored sneakers (purple is my weapon of choice), and a gray-tone plaid fedora. Add some jewelry and color appropriate makeup if you want. Either way, it looks great and doesn’t take much effort. :)

Fashion Idol #1

I mean, duh. This raw vegan chick is always wearing a wonderful, sometimes quirky mixture of clothing and accessories. She’s adorable, too. The fashion writer-sometimes model is NOT anorexic as many claim, but has Crohn’s and Ulcerative Cholitis. What I love about her is even with those illnesses she makes the most of life and still manages to look gorgeous.

Though my style preferences can range from goth-emo-industrial to hippy within moments, she remains in the number 1 spot in my mental list of style icons.

Watch this, no matter how sickening. Watch it now.

Also, the deleted scenes.

I kind of want to cry right now. This is amazing. But I want to do something to help and I feel so helpless…..what can we do??

Now For a List

Since I’m gearing up to be vegan…

fashionable things that won’t break the bank and don’t include animal products!

Yeah, they “look cheap,” but I’m a college student. Next semester I’ll get an itsy bitsy part time job but for now I rely on the parentals for money. One day maybe I’ll make enough to buy well-crafted designer clothes, bags, and shoes, but for now, “look cheap” doesn’t matter to me. Hopefully my readers will agree this stuff is still pretty nice.

Then there’s this interesting line of flapper and Victorian-esque evening bags I found on ebay. I presume no animal products though finding product information is a little tough…and they are beautiful and CHEAP! God damnit, I want them all, but here’s some favorites.

Finally, a more expensive, more convincing faux-leather shoe…..named the Kyla boot. If someone generous wants to get me a most-fitting present….. :D

Amazing Bag + Health and Veganism

Imogen Marc Jacobs Bag

This is like my favorite bag in the world. The black dangling icicles are just wonderful. There’s also a white version. If I had endless money I would buy them both.

However I guess it’s best I don’t. Why? Well…

At the moment I’m ruminating about going vegan (so I wouldn’t want to buy any more leather stuff than I already have). I was vegan for a six month period during high school. I felt so wonderful and healthy. My first reason was moral grounds, how animals in the food and dairy industries are usually treated - but as I got used to eating vegan the health reasons became stronger. I was much more ready to get up and jog every morning and eat a really healthy organic oatmeal breakfast rather than give in to muffins or bagels or donuts or whatever crap was in the house. And Amy’s frozen vegan meals are the most delicious thing ever. They taste so….unlike a frozen dinner!

Sadly I’m at college and if I do go vegan I won’t be getting a whole lot of cooked tofu, Amy’s, good vegan restaurant food, etc…the cafeteria has a rather small vegan selection. (Plates of rice and lentils or eggplant assorted with various other vegetables and seasoned….that about sums it up) That plus a salad bar, oft-bruised fruit, and potatoes…exciting! I mean, some cereals and bagels are vegan too. And they have soymilk. So I’ll make do. It will definitely decrease my inclination to binge on sweets while I study since I won’t be able to eat any of them! And my ultimate goal is to be healthy. Having a world of TASTY vegan food at my fingertips is optional.

I’ve been binging on sweets and carbs and burgers lately (they don’t even taste that good), so I’m ready for this. I actually look forward to eating vegan…I’ll feel better after meals, I’ll be able to focus better…and maybe once my body is used to healthy food I’ll enjoy it more.

It’s crazy for me to think that I starved myself during junior year of highschool, looking at my eating habits now. Now I’m nearly the opposite. Going to the cafeteria to do homework and eating way too much shit in the process. Constant sweet cravings. I’m off to find a middle ground. And as much as some people view veganism as extreme, I think it’s just the middle ground I need.

On a final note, if anyone knows of a vegan bag that looks anything like this Marc Jacobs beauty, PLEASE TELL ME! Thanks ;D

For Your Self-Esteem: Photoshopping IS Real, the End Result ISN’T.
It’s important to realize that what you see isn’t always real. I find it incredibly hard to remind myself that the images I see in magazines are photoshopped and edited by professionals because what I do see, I want to believe is real. I want to believe it’s achievable. Why? Because I find it beautiful, attractive, and coveted. I fall into the media trap just as millions of others do. We have to become aware and willing to look at the beautiful models and images and say, “This is a product. This is a message. This is a lie. This does not have to be me.”
